IDBS Proudly Introduces the
Afterburner Web Server

"Throughput Three to Four Orders of Magnitude Faster
Than Anything Else on the Market"

International Digital Broadcasting Systems, Inc. (IDBS) is offering a technological breakthrough – a high speed web co-server which delivers files & other objects at a throughput that is three to four orders of magnitude beyond anything else currently available… and at a cost to websites, ISP's, and cybercasters that is significantly under that of similar, less powerful, products on the market.

Afterburner Web Server

The Afterburner Web Server is a specialized web server designed to function as a co-server for high volume / high traffic web sites. It is geared to offload from the sites' main servers JPEG's, GIF's, images, and other bulk objects which cause congestion, slowdowns, system failures, and other problems.
If you have content that deserves and will attract
high hit rates, we can fulfill your needs -- today.

The Afterburner Web Server utilizes optimized system architecture
and protocols to deliver the most reliable and the
    highest throughput solution available today.

A majority of high volume ISP's and corporate websites employ what they are told are the fastest solutions on the market, usually employing expensive hardware and operating systems, layered with NCSA or Apache public domain webserver software. And, while these sites can, at best -- in theory, respond to 5 million file or object requests ("hits") per day, their real capacity is only 128 concurrent hits (or, if significantly boosted with expensive memory, 256 concurrent hits) ... in other words, about 500 thousand to 1 million hits per day.

In contrast, the Afterburner Web Server, which is a turnkey integrated hardware, O/S, and software solution, offers an entry-level capacity of 1,500 concurrent hits, and has been running at various corporate websites throughout the first six months of 1997 at a tested rate of 22 million hits per day. And this turnkey system costs less than the hardware platforms alone of the alternatives.

If you are familiar with the limits of other web servers, it may be hard to imagine a small company being able to deliver 21st Century performance before the industry giants can. As with real-time sound & video delivery and with real-time 3D display rendering, real-time web delivery is a breakthrough in software optimization that eliminates the requirement for high end hardware platforms.

IDBS provides technology to our clients that pushes more no-download audio video streams than any other technology provider in the world today. Our CTO John Sokol has designed and implemented many breakthrough architectural and software optimization solutions, including 386BSD UNIX, which made UNIX available on 80386 hardware platforms.
If your site is congested, the Afterburner Web Server will solve your problem by responding to the majority of requests for files & objects, thus freeing up your main servers to work at appropriate speeds. And, at a price for performance that is far less than anything else available.

To Order or for Information . . .

Site Licensing is available for the Afterburner Web Server is available for $5,000, installation, $5,000 deposit, and $2,000/month. Shipping, insurance, and applicable sales tax is additional.

Pricing includes the integrated solution, full documentation, technical support (if needed) in installation & integration with your website, as well as a host of powerful free features, including:

IDBS's RACE program, which automatically identifies and selects the optimal server to respond to each hit in a multi-server configuration, and balances the load across your network.

Binary log files which track system usage by individual hit.

A utility allowing you to restrict access by referring page, thereby preventing theft of bandwidth from stolen images, without requiring your clients to use passwords.

IDBS's Afterburner Video Server, which can push unlimited no-download audio video streams up to the limit (beyond) of ethernet capacity. Current users are providing 90 Gigabytes of high quality video per day.

a. Architectural Comparison Charts

One of the keys to our breakthrough performance is our proprietary systems archetecture, as depicted in these charts. For an in-depth explanation, see the White Paper (e., below).

b. Performance Comparison Chart

Other systems claim an ability to handle five million hits per day. This simple bar chart shows the difference between our measured performance, and their theoretical "best". Our theoretical limit is not a result of the Afterburner Web Server's design, but of the capacity of today's 10Mbps ethernets.
