In BSD/OS 2.1, it has no chap/pap on ppp. So we cannot use BSD/OS 2.1 for Livingston with chap/pap. Or Livingston's address or user setting can be wrong. It looks like ppp on BSD/OS 3.0 works well. But configuration procedure becomes extremely difficult. You have to fight with /etc/ppp.sys, /etc/ttys.*, /etc/group, /etc/dialer.rules instead of single /etc/ppp.sys. I find gettyd sometimes fails to detect line status, it close suddenly or it fails to find open line... Maybe it is better to stop gettyd, but, I already setup these....
