I recently installed FreeBSD and set up the ppp daemon for dialing into my
ISP server. Everything works all right, except for one small detail. The
connection is way too slow. Using the ppp command from the prompt I can
transmit FTP files at about 1.14k/sec. Interestingly enough, using pppd
increases the speed to 2.2k/sec. Under Windows I got transmission speeds
of close to 3k/sec. I've tried decreasing the MTU from 1500 to 700, but
this didn't do me any good. Does anyone have any ideas about what might
speed up my connection? Thanks.
