Better, faster, etc. than Linux? Ah, here you delve into religious issues! OS wars, just like language wars are wars without winners, and this is sure to be one. What's good about *BSD is largely a matter of opinion and experience - I've worked on BSD systems through 4.3 and wanted to see if the small system version was like big brother. Frankly, I'm impressed. There are holes and shortcomings, but on the whole it "comfortable".
