What does "netstat -rn" say ? Have you specified your target
(maybe guessed) IP number in ppp.conf on the command line ?

 set ifaddr 10.10.10.10/0 10.10.11.11/0
 add 0 0 10.10.11.11

The HISADDR bit in the old docs is bogus. HISADDR is only available
in ppp.linkup.
