I have a new machine at home I'm trying to get up and running, but for
some reason I cannot get the mouse to be recognized. The machine an
Free BSD recognize the serial ports, and I don't seem to have an IRQ
conflict. However, trying both serial ports with two mice that are both
supposed to be MS Mouse compatible (one is a PS2 touchpad, which I plug
into a serial port adapter, the other a generic serial mouse), I cannot
get the X configuration program to recognize the input. Since this is a
virgin system, I cannot rule out hardware failure, so I was wondering if
anyone had heard of this sort of configuration problem.

TIA,
Jason

Just because it works doesn't mean it isn't broken.
