I am using gcc 2.7.2.1 to compile LLNL XDIR 2.0 under FreeBSD 2.2.2R. Everything went along quite merrily; nothing exceptionally strange in the compilation; however, when connecting to a host, the program will give me a "cannot connect to server" error. This is not my problem :) The problem exists in that when I rebuilt to include the debugging symbols, the Same problem occured until I ran it within gdb 4.16. So I ran LLNL XDIR 2.0 in gdb 4.16. It worked like a champ. I exited the debugger. Ran XDIR. No workee. :-\ I would appreciate any hints or references to continue my investigation of this situation. Either it's something irritatingly simple or intriguing.
