Alt is under my thumb.
ESC is five keys (diagonally) away from the most convenient finger, the
middle finger.

The "obvious consclusions can be drawn" :-)
Besides its easier to type  Alt+F than reach over to Escape, press it,
then go back and press F. Experiment for yourself.
