"rc.conf" was created with defaults. (sorry, my term config is messed up and I can't see what I'm typing :)" I can't get the root account working. I've rebooted in single user mode, used vipw, copied the old passwd/master.passwd files and rebuilt the pwd database, etc., all to no avail.
