Well, then you gotta fix _this_ problem first.  You can't label a
drive the kernel hasn't found.  Review your boot messages, look into
your kernel config file (if you've got a custom kernel), etc.  You
didn't provide any information about this that would allow us to help
you.

Once the kernel has found the drive, go and try what the FAQ is
suggesting.

Btw., you're really going to setup a news server with IDE drives?
Awful.  Perhaps it's just a typo though.
