   I had the same problem.  Actually X is looking for a font named
"Fixed".  "Fixed" is aliased in the misc directory as 6x13, in the
fonts.alias file.

Why this error seems to crop up, seems to be that X is trying to set the
path to "/usr/X386/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo" in the font path, when Speedo
doen't exist.  When I took this path out and kept the
"...fonts/misc/,...fonts/75dpi/" it ran.
