I always thought the primary ftp site was ftp.freebsd.org -
a CNAME for wcarchive.cdrom.com (also the same as freebsd.cdrom.com).
It's true that www.freebsd.org moved, but in name only.  The machine
is physically the same piece of hardware, and was always different
from freebsd.cdrom.com (well, for the last six months anyway).
