Anyway, i always found it most convenient to run ``make -k release'', redirect the output to a file, and analyze the errors afterwards. Many of the looking-like-errors during the initial `make install' might turn out to be benign wrt. to the resulting build process. `make release' has never been intended to be used by the innocent. It is a build tool that allows us (the FreeBSD team) to share the workload of the release building. If you use it yourself, you are expected to have the required clues about what is going on, and whether it might be fatal to your goal or not. Sorry if i sound harsh, but: ``Use at your own risk. All warranties, explicit or implied, are being denied.'' This doesn't mean we wouldn't appreciate suggestions about making this process more friendly in particular regarding cross-version release builds. After all, you know who we are. Emails with context (or uni-) diffs are welcome. -- cheers, J"org joerg_wunsch@uriah.heep.sax.de -- http://www.sax.de/~joerg/ -- NIC: JW11-RIPE Never trust an operating system you don't have sources for. ;-)
