% file `which xterm`
/usr/X11R6/bin/xterm: setuid BSD/i386 compact demand paged dynamically linked
 executable

Now if the standard binary distribution doesn't suit you, you've got
the source.  If you don't find(1) it, look here:

% locate xterm.h
/usr/X11R6/src/xc/programs/xterm/xterm.h
