Can't help you here; mine does that also.

Check your /etc/fstab to ensure that the line for /cdrom refers to
the correct device.  Not all CD-ROM drives are the same device (e.g.
ATAPI vs. SCSI vs. ...).  Then try "mount /cdrom".
