Hi,
I'm trying to install FreeBSD 2.1.7 on a 386. The problem after
booting from the BSD boot diskette is that my Matsushita CD-ROM won't
be recognized.
It's connected to controller which apparently supports Sony, Mitsumi,
and Panasonic.
It has three connectors on it, it looks about this way:
1 :::::::: 2 ::::::::::::::
3 ::::::::::::::
The CD-ROM's eject button will work only on connector 3.
My problem is that the CD-ROM and the adapter are a gift from a
friend, and there's no documentation available anymore.
All I can adjust by jumper settings are the IRQ (set to 10), the DRQ
and the DACK. There are two other jumper blocks, but there's nothing
printed to identify their meaning.
I assume that connector 3 is correct for Panasonic/Matsushita, and the
BSD kernel configuration offers only the setting of a port address for
such drives. I've tested some so far: 220, 230, 240, and 250.
Can anyone offer a hint how I can get BSD to find the drive?
