Have a look at
/usr/share/doc/FAQ/freebsd-faq.html
/usr/share/doc/handbook/handbook.html     (paragraph 11)
and at older articles in this newsgroups.

It depends e.g. on what your ISP offers (SLIP or PPP), whether you use a
modem or ISDN, ... you should try it by yourself and ask more specific
questions (giving more details, please) when (sorry, if :-) ) you get stuck.
