Here's some more info on my X problems.

I've removed com3 and com4 from the config file (to avoid duplicate
IRQs) and X is still broken.

Also, I've noticed something very strange. When I look in /var/log/messages
to see the boot info, here is what I see:

Jan 6 12:35:26 stimpy /386bsd: pc0<color> at 0x60 irq 1 on isa
Jan 6 12:35:27 stimpy /386bsd: com1 at 0x3f8 irq 4 on isa
Jan 6 12:35:27 stimpy /386bsd: com2 at 0x2f8 irq 3 on isa
Jan 6 12:35:27 stimpy /386bsd: com3 at 0x3e8 irq 4 on isa
Jan 7 12:37:30 stimpy /386bsd: com4 fifo at 0x2e8 irq 3 on isa
Jan 7 12:37:30 stimpy /386bsd: wd0 0:<Maxtor 7213 AT> at 0x1f0 irq 14 on isa
Jan 7 12:37:30 stimpy /386bsd: fd0 drives 0: 1.2M, 1: 1.44M at 0x3f0 irq 6 drq 2 on isa
Jan 7 12:37:30 stimpy /386bsd: aha0 reading board settings, 200 nSEC ok, use 250 nSEC
Jan 7 12:37:30 stimpy /386bsd: **aha0 probing for scsi devices**
Jan 7 12:37:30 stimpy /386bsd: aha0 at 0x330 irq 11 drq 5 on isa
Jan 7 12:37:30 stimpy /386bsd: we0 ethernet address 00:00:c0:a6:65:10 at 0x280 irq 9 on isa
Jan 7 12:37:30 stimpy /386bsd: npx0 at 0xf0 irq 13 on isa

notice how the date changed right in the middle of booting.

I'll try the "Happy New Year" patch and see what happens.
