Hello,

I have been unable to find any information on this problem. If it
exists, could someone kindly point me in the right direction? Otherwise,
could someone tell me why after setting the hardware up, inserting a DC6525
tape cartridge, and issuing the command "mt rewind" I get the output shown
below?

oliver# mt rewind

I then issued the "mt status" command. I have included the output below.

oliver# mt status

Finally, I attempted to dump some data to the tape.

oliver# dump -0 -d 16000 -s 1020 -f /dev/nrst0 /usr/homes/lowell
DUMP: Date of this level 0 dump: Sun May 25 17:57:51 1997
DUMP: Date of last level 0 dump: the epoch
  DUMP: Dumping /usr/homes/lowell to /dev/nrst0
  DUMP: bad sblock magic number
DUMP: The ENTIRE dump is aborted.

If I am correct, the "...magic number" comment indicates that there are
additional configuration issues to be dealt with. However, I do not
know where to go from here. apropos tape doesn't give me much info.

Any info on this would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,
Lowell
