No, seriously, it happens sometimes that the cancellation control messages
are not applied to all instances of the message which is cross-posted
to lots of different groups.
I don't know how my news relay is managed, but partially cancelled posts
happen just a very few times indeed.
Usually, it's a "--- FREE XXX STUFF, GO AND LOOK THERE ---" announce
posted in comp.windows.x.* and comp.unix.bsd.*
