I had this problem for long (no SIGFPE, but SIGBUS or SIGSEGV) until i
picked up this script from the netscape-xxx ports on ftp.freebsd.org :

#!/bin/sh
export XKEYSYMDB ; XKEYSYMDB=/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/XKeysymDB
export XNLSPATH  ; XNLSPATH=/usr/local/lib/netscape/nls
export XAPPLRESDIR ; XAPPLRESDIR=/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/app-defaults
exec /usr/local/lib/netscape/netscape $*

You have of course to install the browser on its own directory.
I is working fine, even with java ...
