I think not. I had both BIOS version (1.16 and 1.23) running
here. That makes no difference for me.

One nice feature of the 1.23 version is, that one can boot from every
possible ID/LUN combination. Nice thing(TM) if you have more than 2
drives or the board bios doesn't support boot from CDROM.
