I have a question regarding the BIOS version on the 2940 SCSI
controller. I have a DEC Prioris with a 2940 SCSI ctlr at BIOS version
1.16 . I know that the latest version is 1.25 (or is that 1.23?).

Does the BIOS version have any impact on FreeBSD. I imagine not since
the O/S provides it's own drivers and doesn't (?) use the BIOS for
anything other than loading the boot code. Also, the driver has code
that it down-loads into the adapter.

Is there any point in upgrading the BIOS ROMs on this controller given
that it has no trouble handling the 3 x 1 GB and 1 x 4 GB drives that
are attached to the machine. While it also has a CD drive, I have NO
plans to put any esoteric SCSI devices (Worm drives, etc.) on this
machine so do I need to anything about the "out of date" BIOS?
