Doing a complete reinstall of perl 5.003_99 from source on bsd/os 3.0
the compile works fine but two tests fail: io_sock (Bad file
descriptor at line 55) and io_udp (cant call method sockname with
package or object reference, ie the object is null from the previous
line; IO::Socket::INET->new ).

I installed anyway and the sockets I have scripted work fine but
packages using IO::Socket fail, for intance Net::FTP. I know there is
a socket issue with perl and bsdos 3.0 but I have installed the kernel
patch which claims to solve this and recompiled the kernel with
COMPAT_SOCKADDR and in any case cannot find any instance of the
offending 'S n C4 x8' pack format anywhere.

Anyone got it working?
