Many of the unix commands are documented in unix command reference books.

Command files are often found in the following directories:

  /bin
  /sbin
  /usr/bin
  /usr/sbin

A variety of commands are scattered elesewhere through the unix system.

The most common unix documentation can be read via:

  man commandname

The standard command documentation is usually found in the subdirectories of:

  /usr/man
