Btw., that's actually the BIOS telling it to the drive at boot time,
and the drive will remember it.

Btw.^2, i've got some patches around that allow to set the sleep timer
of an IDE drive using the wd(4) driver.  I'll commit them some day
(although their design looks fairly hacky, that's the reason why i
didn't commit them yet).  I've implemented this since i needed it for
a standby disk in a customer's (non-notebook) machine.
