	Hi,
	You will need kaffe because Sun's JDK won't work on FreeBSD.
You will need, nevertheless, the file classes.zip from it and a package
called kaffe (www.kaffe.org) - thing is, there is only support for jdk
1.0.2 . There are also in the ports collection all that is necessary to
use awt (I believe it's something like biss.zip, I don't quite remember
:( ).

	Using netscape as an appletviewer is a real pain - you have to restart
it every time you recompile an applet... but there is a port of netscape
to FreeBSD.

	One word of caution however, there are reports of awt not being that
multiplatform... check out comp.java.lang.programmer
