There's a patch on BSDI's site to add a timeout, that was made especially
for that purpose following the 1.2 beta releases of Apache. It's number K027
I believe. Though it's not mentionned, you need a former patch for the kernel
to compile (K023?), but that shouldn't be a problem if you aplly all the
patches regularly.
