Well, following up myself, I got that one to work (man pages DO help :) with
brandelf. But now smodem (the program in question) reports:

LINUX: 'ioctl' fd=0, typ=0x54(T), num=0x15 not implemented
LINUX: 'ioctl' fd=0, typ=0x54(T), num=0x15 not implemented

over and over again.

Has anyone gotten smodem to work with FreeBSD?
