Hi Jim Durham, on Mar 09 you wrote:

Now that I have installed BSD-3.0-SNAP, and I redid the XF86Setup Iwith no
monitor manual), choosing the closest monitor frequency settings to those
reported by SuperProbe, RATHER than entering my own, theoretical rates, the
WAVE is GONE!

In my previous setup, I must have chosen scan rates that were beyond the normal
capacity of the monitor, though it was hard for me to know exactly, since I had
no manual, and Gateway's Web data didn't include my exact monitor. I had chosen
data for a monitor in their data that "appeared" to be close to what I actually
had.

I guess the moral of the story is that when you get second-hand equipment,
SCREAM for the bloody manuals for EVERYthing, beFORE they all get thrown away!
