Thanks for the input, but the CLASSPATH doesn't seem to be the problem.
It can be ruled out when one considers that changing no env variables,
just which X server Netscape displays to, causes it to work ( or not ).

I did try putting java_301 into all the suggested directories anyway
but it didn't change a thing.  Surely if the problem was not being
able to find java_301, Netscape would give an error!

Has anyone got some more suggestions? This problem is affecting about
100 FreeBSD machines in our department.
