Well.. I started programming for Un*x systems in 1981. I've earned my
living writing software for SunOS, RT-11, RSX11M+, VMS, DOS, VxWorks,
Irix, Ultrix, Solaris, BSD4.{1,2,3}, WinNT3.5 and 4.0, etc etc.. Your
opinion gave me the best laugh I've had in a long time. Thanks. Each
OS has strengths and weaknesses, and discarding any one of them as a
"piece of shit" when you've obviously never studied the internals
merely limits your ability... and earning potential.

pot, kettle, black

Following this thread amazes me to no end. Is this what the CS
departments of today are turning out? If people 20 years ago had had
this attitude, we'd all still be writing COBOL on punch cards. (GUI's
just hide the stuff that's really important, as does OOP). NT has some
underlying advantages over most Un*x implementations, multi-threading
being one of them. Its filesystem sucks. So what. Un*x has its
deficiencies. And its advantages. Go with the flow. Use what's best
for your market. Get rich. Retire. Which part don't you understand?

It's not a religion, its just a steenking computer. Well.. back to
alt.mech.screwdrivers where there's a religious argument over which is
better, flathead or phillips head. They're all ignoring what type of
screw they have. And then there's those Torx(tm) guys... where the
hell did they come from?
