: NT is basically a piece of shit, as is windows 95... but microsoft has
: the marketing power and user base to impose it on the rest of the world
: and most people do not know any better.

: And, at the same time, most of the commercial UNIX vendors are too busy
: infighting to address the issue. They spend their time developing 'open'
: standards that are, in fact, proprietary, and trying to one-up
: each other. It's idiotic. It's sorta like school children pushing and
: shoving to get at the head of the line while a thousand pound gorilla is
: bearing down on the snack bar.

: What is so frightening about this whole thing is that most people
: *actually* *believe* the crap microsoft is spewing out. Everything
: microsoft puts out is second-rate and second-class, but most people
: seem to believe that it's first-rate and first-class because it's
: the only thing they are exposed to.

: Personally, i think the operating system is so critical to our future
: that it should not be under the control of any for-profit company.
: Microsoft is almost single-handedly destroying the core that will
: build our tomorrow. It makes me ill to think about where we would be
: if they actually win... it would be a giant step backwards.

Amen!
