I'm thinking of using FreeBSD on a fileserver (for remote drive
mounting). It needs to serve both IBM compatables and Macs. It will
operate either on a TCP/IP or Appletalk network. Print, email, and web
serving will also be done, but are secondary. I would like to know
whether anyone has used FreeBSD in this role, and if so, with what
success.
Another issue is with hardware. Does anyone know if I can use EIDE
tape drives or EIDE CD-ROM drives with FreeBSD?
I have setup a FreeBSD machine before, but it wasn't even networked, so
any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.
