Yet another problem with a FreeBSD Laptop...

We are currently running an oRiS Laptop (Pentium 166 40Mb Mem) and trying
to install the network controller correctly. The connector is a
3COM PCMCIA 3C589D card.

I have downloaded the PAO distribution, and been able to successfully
install the machine from the net with the 2.2.1-Release version of FreeBSD
now available.

The problem I am now having is that even though we were able to install
over the network, the machine is not recognising the card.

In the installation program, the IO is 0x300 and the IRQ 10, the current
settings of the card. This is still the case.

On bootup of the system, I am currently getting
     /kernel: ep0 not found at 0x300
However, I am getting a recognition of the following:
     /kernel: ze: pcmcia slot 0: 3Com Corporation~3C589D~TP/BNC LAN Card
Ver, 2a~00000s)
/kernel: ze: slot 1: no card in slot
     /kernel: ze0 not found at 0x300
/kernel: zp: found card in slot 0
     /kernel: zp0 not found at 0x300

When the boot process gets to Enable PC-card, I get the response:
     /dev/card0: Device not configured

The ideas I have are running out...

Perhaps as there is no device zp or ze in the /etc/pccard.conf file this
could be part of the problem, or there may be a misconfiguration in the
sysconfig file. I am at a loss, and we need this machine up last week (as
is always the case).

Can you help?

Thanks,

Drew
