Are you sure about that?  In the versions I've used, you had to rebuild
the kernel, but once that was done, you had full IDE cdrom support.

I'm going to order 2.2.x just as soon as Walnut Creek has it available
on cdrom, and I'd sure hate to find out that atapi support is missing.
