AFAIU, the cause is that CMOS has space for 64MB memory only. I always
wondered why can't the kernel scan the available memory itself (like POST
routine in BIOS) and store it in some more sensibly-sized datatype? Surely
it can't take longer than SCSI bus recalibration?
