Well we run a VWS using Apache on a FreeBSD box. Currently it has about
120
servers running with more being added every day 9or so it seems)!

man ifconfig and checkout the 'alias' bit.  Also, it is possible that
the
previous sysadmin used the "/etc/sysconfig" file to ensure that the
alias
IP addresses are added to the appropriate network device at boot time.
