It is expandable to 64 MB on board using 16MB SIMMs.  There are four banks
on the motherboard, and the standard 8MB configuration comes with two 4MB
SIMMs installed. 

By the way, Linux runs very well on my Gateway 4DX2-66V.  I am typing this
note in an xterm window under SLS linux .98p5 and Xfree1.1.
