As far as I know, the only freeware app. that understands PostScript
is Aladdin's GhostScript interpreter.
Use: gs -sDEVICE=pbm -sOutputFile=yourfile -dNOPAUSE -q 

Hint: to reduce the size of gs, include only the "pbm" output support...

PostScript is complex, so don't expect gs to be a "small" program ;-p
