You might as well go beyond 2.1.7 and get 2.2.1.  I just installed the
base distribution on my box today via ftp and am now in the process of
pulling down the other dists.

Simplest way is to ftp the bin dist, run the install.sh script, and then
do the rest later via ppp/ftp.
