And couldn't you FTP to localhost?

The message referred to setting up the FTP server, not setting up
networking in general. If that's what was actually meant, it wasn't clear
to me. I'll agree, that's a more complicated issue; maybe even more
complicated than under NT. But four months' worth? No way. It took me a
long time to get around to actually setting it up, but once I did, it only
took one night.
