Grumble.

So I made an install and a fixit disk from cgd's binary images months
ago. Just the past week I finally managed to get the bin dist loaded
onto floppy, so I thought, "now is the time to install."

I booted the install floppy. I typed 'install'. Everything appeared
to work fine. I hit return to reboot off of the hard disk. Endless
reboot cycle. It took me a few dozen cycles to copy it down, but
here is what appeared on the screen:

vm fault ( fe071cdc, a49c2000, 3, 0 ) -> 1
  type c, code 2
trap type 12, code 2, eip = fe025dff, cs = fdbf0008, eflags = 10203, \
    cr2 a49c2a58, cplo
panic: trap

The operating system is saving a copy of RAM to device 1, offset 0
(hit any key to abort) amount left to save [MB] -- area improper,
system rebooting.

The syntax may be a bit off, but the preceding is what my machine
complained of. I seem to recall some mention of an endless reboot
cycle before, but it didn't seem to apply to my machine.

Here are the specifics:
no-name motherboard, AMI bios, 386-25, 8 Meg RAM, no co-processor,
MFM controller and two hard disks, one (3.5) floppy, 4-port serial
card (com 1), multi i/o card (com 2), CGA adapter (HP, ancient, 2
board solution), wangtek QIC-36 controller, 1/4" tape drive, Covox
Speach board. I think that's it. I haven't had the opportunity
yet to pull all but the most essential components and try again.
Is this something that is likely to prove useful?

Does anyone have any suggestions for me? What should I do next?
Pull half of the RAM? Disconnect the second hard drive? Get a new
install image? Install by hand?

Thanks in advance,
