not sure about an irq, I used the default, but I now have it on a
separate machine (no SB :<) but I could check if none of this helps.

no I don't have an (anymore. I did in the original machine) sb0 and it
works fine.

I used the generic kernel on the 2.1.5 CD (It found my CD first try)
The main thing I would check is that the SB is set for 220, if it is
that is the address you should use.
i.e. just use the SB address as the CD address and it should work.
(worked for me)
Hope this helps at least a little (I'm definately not an expert). If you
need more info, let me know and I'll put the old drive (and CD) back in
the machine with the SB and try to get some more info.
