I've just recently started using rdist. The version in /usr/bin is
(AFAIK) version 3, but there's a port of version 6. I've had
no problems with the /usr/bin version, and only had problems figuring
out how to tell version 6 where rdistd was on the remote host.

Can you rcp things between the two machines ? Perhaps this is just
an RPC problem ? If rcp works, please post your Distfile and maybe
I can comment on that.
