I have a few modems set up on my FreeBSD 2.1.7 server. Everything works
fine except for getty does not know when the modems hang up. This
results in the next person to dial in, to get a garbage screen (or
worse an open tty with the previous owner already loged in...)

I have already configured the gettytab with the to option but I can tell
if this is the right thing or not...

My ttys file looks like this

ttyd0 "/usr/libexec/getty std.38400" dialup on secure

My gettytab file looks like this

std.38400|38400-baud:\
        :to#25:np:sp#38400:

Any ideas ?
