I have it working (2.1.6, though) quite happily as a samba server.  I
haven't enabled a print server, so I don't know if that will work or
not, but I can happily mount off of DOS (both RO - for guests, and RW
- for me).

Describe your problem - I'm no expert but maybe I can help...
