Is it possible that you have the disks plugged into the second bus on
the controller?  I believe that 2.1 only groks the first.

BTW, I'd avoid the 3940.  It's billed as a dual-channel board, but I've read
that it's actually only got one set of SCSI logic on it that's multiplexed
between them.  So, the only advantage one gets is the ability to stick on
twice as many devices.
