I'm currently at FreeBSD 2.1.0. I'm thinking of mirroring the parts I
want of one archive and then installing off of NFS afterward. How hard
is this to do? I can run wget(1) from a reasonably fast network and
move the bits over by tape to within ethernet reach of my device.

Don't I need to avoid the "packages" directory in order to keep from
transferring tons of stuff I don't need? How can I find out how large
a SNAP or RELEASE is? A subdirectory within a RELEASE?

Mostly wanting the Java, recent GNU tools, and the most Japanese
text-processing packages I can find, I haven't made up my mind yet
which release to install, either :-)

If this turns out to be easy enough, I wouldn't mind an iterative
process to move from say 2.1.7 to 2.2 over the next few months.
If it's a huge pain, I guess I'll order CDs...

Thanks,

Steve
