hola.

I've got a little problem with the a HP Vectra running BSDi 2.1 with a
de500 ethernet card, 10baseT, and mrouted. (Whew, what a mouthful.)

I have a continuous multicast video source on my LAN. Mrouted is
started during the bootup sequence. After a minute or so of normal
operation, I type 'netstat -nia -I de1' and get:

  popeye: {7} % netstat -nia -I de1
Name Mtu Network Address Ipkts Ierrs Opkts Oerrs Coll
  de1 1500 <link2> 00:00:f8:03:ab:91 189 0 144 0 19
*                         01:00:5e:00:00:00 to 01:00:5e:7f:ff:ff
                          01:00:5e:00:00:02
                          01:00:5e:00:00:04
                          01:00:5e:00:00:01
  de1 1500 192.1.54.48 192.1.54.49 189 0 144 0 19
                          224.0.0.2
                          224.0.0.4
                          224.0.0.1

I believe that the star'ed (*) line indicates that 'mrouted' has told
the ethernet card to listen for all multicast packets. This is expected
for a mutlicast router.

Now, I look at the interface statistics via 'netstat -nias -I de1':

  popeye: {8} % netstat -nias -I de1
  de1:
        1500 maximum transmission unit [MTU]
        0 routing metric (external only)
        10000000 linespeed (serial)
        205 packets received on interface
        0 input errors on interface
        177 packets sent on interface
        0 output errors on interface
        21 collisions on csma interfaces
13682 total number of octets received
14324 total number of octets sent
* 10 packets received via multicast
        51 packets sent via multicast
0 packets dropped on input, this interface
0 packets destined for unsupported protocol

Only 10 multicast packets have been received. I'm sure that (because I
have a snooper on this ethernet) that many, many more than 10 packets
have been sent to the 225.1.2.3 multicast IP address. Yet, the de500
doesn't seem to find these packets.

Can anyone help me explain this?
(yes, I do have patch K210-023 installed)

Thank you.
